1) Vaccinate
It is very necessary for you to vaccinate yourself against the diseases that might infect you. Yellow fever, measles and other such diseases do not trouble you here, but can invade your body once you start living abroad. Hence, taking vaccinations against those diseases is advised.
2) Buy Medical Insurance
Having a medical insurance is a very important requisite in the hospitals overseas. Not having an insurance can double the costs of medication and treatment. Consult your financial advisor or insurance agent to gain the exact details of an application before you leave for your journey.
3) Maintain Hygiene
Many of you can be put up in basements and dorms initially. The places can be infested with many pests and germs. Maintaining personal and general hygiene is extremely important. Carry disinfectants and repellent creams to protect yourself from unwanted diseases and infections.
4) Invest in leather garments.
Sweaters and woollens available in India cannot keep you warm in the colder parts of the world. Buy leather jackets, gloves and caps that are easily available in India. They shall protect you nicely until you finally start shopping overseas. They are easy to carry and do not need much maintenance.
5) Carry General Drugs.
A normal headache pill or a small bottle of Iodex or Relispray must be carried. They are not easily available in the chemist stores overseas. You would need a prescription for even the lightest medicine. Consultation charges overseas are very high. Hence, it is advisable for you to carry those drugs and use them when needed. Make sure you look up on Google and do not carry the banned products and drugs such as Vicks.
